Tot Fest 2012

Yes, Tot Fest. It's a thing...that we just made up.
One night with the neighbors, we conceptualized this event and two weeks later, it finally came to fruition. About 20 people showed up with their amazing renditions of tater tot casserole deliciousness. We estimate that we cooked close to 20 lbs of tots. I made a healthyfied version of this recipe, and was told it was the best dish there. Fresh tots, hot tunes, friendly people, it was a night to remember ;)

The first spread (there were numerous courses as more people showed up)

Suckers made from jolly ranchers!

I used these directions as a starting point. But here are my slightly modified directions:

1) Place 2 candies side by side on wax paper
2) heat candies in oven for about 5-9 minutes at 200 degrees.
Take cookie sheet out of the oven as soon as all the originally molded corners are gone and it's a big smooth blob. Just keep a close eye on them.
3) Lay sticks into place on melted candies. Slowly twirl in melted candy to coat the stick so it will hold. They're hot! Work quickly before the candies harden, but don't burn yourself. I made 6 suckers at a time so I didn't have to rush so much, and wore a winter glove so I was able to touch the pan a bit.
4) let cool for 30 minutes and enjoy!
