Once upon it, yellow bonnet

A yellow bonnet for little Hattie Jo. I couldn't help but hum this song while working on it.

Shel sent me the cutest picture of Hattie wearing it, but my phone refuses to let me send it here for some reason. Oh well. She's adorable, trust me.

Elise Shawl

I got to put these blocking wires to use for the first time.
Before: meh.

After: Bigger! Prettier!

I used the Elise Shawl pattern with Plymouth Baby Alpaca yarn (my first time using fingering weight). The color is shown most accurate in the photo I'm wearing it. This was a Christmas gift for my future sister-in-law. I'm quite proud of this project, I think it's one of the coolest things I've ever made.

Cowl

A gift for my Sis-in-law.

My Mom-in-law taught me how to crochet when I was in college, and I've loved being able to make my own hats and scarves. But recently something clicked, and I've been able to understand patterns that previously seemed impossible. I've really gotten into it and am totally turning into a yarn snob. This winter, my happy place is cozying up with a crochet project in my fluffy bathrobe, with a cup of tea and NPR. Sexy, right?

Kitschy Pot Holder

I made a pot holder to match my harvest gold and green kitchen. When we first moved
in, this 70's oven was kind of a joke, but I've come to completely love it. Check out that
faux bois dashboard!
Also, I have a new years resolution to stop taking crappy phone pics.

My first yarn bomb

Yarn installations, or yarn bombs are not permanent, and unlike graffiti, can be removed if necessary. Nonetheless, the practice is still technically illegal, though it is not often prosecuted vigorously. Yarn bombing is about reclaiming or personalizing sterile and cold urban environments, or altering on object in an adorably unexpected way.

I have a handful of these random little circles in my stash, so I started out with a green and blue one, and just "free-styled" it from there.

I started small. And decided that this no parking sign could use a little flair. It stayed up for at least 3 days, though I haven't checked on it recently.
*edit 10/25 it's still up and looks great!
*edit this stayed up and in pretty good shape for MONTHS, even after someone stole the puff ball. I hope they like their new puff ball.
